Preston May, CBE®, is Macro & Policy Strategist and a Partner at Donaldson Capital Management. He serves on the firm’s Investment Policy Committee (IPC), helping shape firmwide market strategy, portfolio positioning, and investment messaging. Through macroeconomic, company, and market research, he contributes to asset allocation and sector positioning decisions and leads recurring IPC strategy discussions with advisors.
Preston joined Donaldson in 2014 and has held roles across trading operations, portfolio management support, investment research, and strategy. Over time, his responsibilities have expanded alongside the evolution of the firm’s investment process, culminating in his current role focused on macro strategy and policy analysis to support portfolio decision-making.
He earned the Certified Business Economist® (CBE) designation in 2019 through the National Association for Business Economics, reflecting advanced knowledge in business economics and data analytics. Preston also holds a Master of Science in Economics from Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management, where he concentrated in Financial Economics and Business and Data Analytics and was designated a Krannert Scholar. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, with minors in Business and Political Science, from Indiana University Bloomington, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

In his free time, he enjoys watching and playing sports, being outdoors, learning the guitar, and spending time with family and friends
