Alan Van Cleef, CFP®, joined Donaldson Capital Management as a Lead Investment Advisor in 2023. Alan graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Newberry College in 1986 and immediately entered the wealth management industry. He spent nearly a decade each with SunTrust Bank (now Truist), Regions Financial, and German American Bank. Alan has worked in portfolio management, trust and estate administration, and has managed a regional trust group in Southwest Florida.
In 1999, Alan completed the CFP Board’s requirement for certification and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
Alan was raised and spent much of his career in Sarasota, FL. While in Sarasota, he was involved in several non-profit boards, including The All Faiths Food Bank, American Red Cross, Bond of Love Adoption Agency, and Community Assisted & Supported Living (CASL). He has also been involved with multiple estate planning organizations in Florida, Tennessee, and Indiana and is an active member of the Evansville Estate Planning Council. He also completed Community Leadership Program in Sarasota County and Daviess County. Alan has served on an advisory board for Purdue Extension and is a member of the Montgomery Ruritan Club.
Alan has four children and lives in Montgomery, IN, with his wife Jennifer. He and his brothers have been involved in auto racing since the ‘80s and he is proud to have had a NASCAR crew license and to be a Skip Barber Racing School graduate. In his spare time, Alan loves to mow, watch college football and spend time in the great outdoors with friends and family, cycling and hunting.
